Bentley has announced its latest, a variation of the Bentley Continental Flying Spur, with more “Speed”.

While the standard Flying Spur’s power is at 552-hp, this one will kick it up all the way to 600-hp (thanks to lower internal friction), crossing the line that separates the cars from the 600-hp cars.

The car looks, as always, bulky and heavy, but don’t be fooled, as the 6.0-liter, W-12 powered motor with 553-lb-ft, six-speed automatic all-wheel-drive rockets the car from 0-60mph in just 4.5 seconds. The car is also more agile than the standard, with retuned suspension and steering, and a lowering of 10 millimetres for sharper responsiveness.

The exterior gets a very little face-lift, but the interior lives up to the usual posh standard with wood and leather, and the triple-layer aerodynamic underbody, noise-insulated wheel wells and laminated glass reduce the babble and engine growl outside. Each passenger is offered a wooden table with its own lighted mirrors and the passenger behind the front passenger has now the control to annoy the front one sitting by moving the seat in front should he/she have a growth spurt and require more leg-room. There is a new optional radar-based adaptive-cruise-control system that can decide to slow or even stop you from killing the car (and yourself) if it determines that a collision is imminent.

The car will be on sale in October, digging your wallet at $190,500 ... but hey, I don’t think I’ll be able to resist the seduction of that engine. Certainly is a spicer for those who want something more powerful of the standard Flying Spur.
